ABOUT Andre

When André was 7 his father took him to try a go-kart for the first time. Obviously André loved it and a week later a go-kart was in their garage but with only one goal, go to F1! He got all the support and professional knowledge needed from his dad, which was into racing, but more as a successful engineer and team director.

André quickly made himself a successful racer winning several karting titles around europe and winning the world championship in juniors. At the age of 16 the opportunity came to move to real race cars, joining the Formula BMW Cup in Germany in 98 and 99. He almost won every race and clinched the title for both years. He attracted a lot of attention in the big racing world and made himself a serious talent for the tight way into F1.

With mainly the support of Red bull, in 2000 he won the Rookie of the year title of the German Formula 3 series. André impressed everybody with a podium on his first race and 3 consecutive victories directly after. This boosted his way into Formula 1 clinching a contract with Jaguar F1 as their new talent to establish.

Jaguar shifted André from Germany to England to be closer to the team. He entered the british F3 Championship with the Jaguar F3 team, getting several podiums, pole positions and a win. An impressive second place at the famous International Marlboro Masters showed his speed amongst all the F3 drivers of the world. During the next two years he was also the official test and replacement driver for Jaguar in Formula 1.

After Jaguar stopping their Formula 1 activity, Japan became the best alternative for André to keep his professional racer status. At first he joined for the next three years the Honda team of ex F1 racer Satoru Nakajima. By winning 5 races and many podiums in the Formula Nippon and Japanese GT 500 series he finished second in the F. Nippon championship in the 04 season.

2006 saw André join Toyota’s Team Tom’s, the most popular racing team in Japan. With their first time entry into Formula Nippon they enjoyed immediate success with André at the wheel, winning 2 races and finishing 3rd in the rankings. In addition, André was able to team with Japanese sensation Juichi Wakisaka in the Super GT 500 series. They captured the coveted 2006 Super GT championship. One of the many highlights in 2007 was winning the Suzuka 1000 km race which is the most prestigious event on the Super GT schedule. In 2008 André again was able to enjoy success in Super GT as they won the Team Title portion.

2009 has been André’s most challenging to date. He continues to drive successfully for Lexus Team Tom’s in Super GT and Formula Nippon. With the help of official team sponsor Petronas, André feels confident that the famous number 36 car will be vying for the championship in both categories. Also approached by A1GP Team Germany to pilot their Ferrari powered single-seater. He will continue to race for team Germany in the new 09/10 season in events that span the globe and can be seen worldwide on great live TV coverage. A1GP is a great platform where he can get back into the very competitive, international world of racing.

Lexus contracted André to become part of their special development program for the upcoming Lexus LF-A super car entering the 24h of Nurburgring. The mythical track, also called ”the green hell” is with 25 km track distance the longest and most challenging circuit for any driver in the world. Mastering and enjoying this new experience he was ready for the most famous endurance race of all, the 24h of Le Mans. He got the chance to race with the popular Audi R10, but yet out- dated and paced by new the official factory cars. André did a very impressive faultless job by finishing 7th after a hard 12h of total driving time, especially because one of his two team mates got hurt right before the start and was not able to race.

With all his experience and talent as a professional driver in many different racing series, he understand the requirements of the teams, manufactures and sponsors to represent them on a high level marketing platform.
